Early Life and Education
Nicholas Channing DiGiovanni was born on May 19, 1996, in Providence, Rhode Island, to Chris and Sudie DiGiovanni[1]. The oldest of four brothers, DiGiovanni developed his passion for cooking at a young age by watching his grandmother and great-grandmother prepare family meals[2]. His earliest memories revolve around food, and childhood photos show him wielding spatulas and exploring kitchen cupboards before he could barely walk[3]. DiGiovanni graduated from Milton Academy in 2014 before attending Harvard University, where he made history by creating his own concentration called "Food and Climate," becoming Harvard's first-ever food-related major[1][4]. As part of his coursework, he attended lectures taught by renowned chefs including Massimo Bottura, Grant Achatz, and José Andrés[5]. During his time at Harvard, he also participated on the varsity sailing team and club hockey team[5].MasterChef Breakthrough
During his senior year at Harvard, DiGiovanni attended a casting call for the tenth season of Fox's MasterChef[6]. He was selected to compete on the show and made headlines by becoming the youngest-ever finalist in the show's history at just 21 years old[7][8]. To participate in filming, DiGiovanni made the dramatic decision to leave Harvard mid-semester without informing his professors[5]. He ultimately finished in third place overall, impressing celebrity judges Gordon Ramsay, Joe Bastianich, and Aarón Sánchez throughout the competition[9]. The experience proved transformative, with Gordon Ramsay encouraging him to "break the rules in the kitchen" and giving him the confidence to experiment with creative cooking approaches[10]. DiGiovanni returned to MasterChef in season 11 as a mentor for finalists and later appeared as a guest judge in the show's 14th season[1].Social Media Empire
After completing MasterChef and graduating from Harvard in 2019, DiGiovanni began posting cooking videos on YouTube and other social media platforms[1]. His content strategy focuses on making cooking accessible through creative food hacks, celebrity collaborations, and ambitious culinary projects that capture viewers' attention[11]. As of July 2025, DiGiovanni commands an impressive social media presence with over 27 million YouTube subscribers, 3.7 million Instagram followers, and millions more across TikTok and other platforms[12][13][14]. His YouTube channel has generated over 12 billion total views, with individual videos regularly surpassing millions of views[14]. Industry analytics show his content generates an estimated monthly earning range of $565,800 to $1.7 million from YouTube alone[15]. In January 2025, DiGiovanni launched a second YouTube channel called "Nick's Kitchen," which takes a more traditional, Food Network-style approach to cooking instruction with higher production values and slower-paced tutorials[16][17]. This new channel already boasts 2.52 million subscribers[18].Awards and Recognition
DiGiovanni's influence in the digital food space has earned him numerous accolades. He won the Streamy Award for Food Creator of the Year in both 2021 and 2023, cementing his status as one of the platform's top culinary content creators[19][20]. In 2021, he was included on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in the Food and Drink category[21], and more recently appeared on Forbes' Top Creators list for both 2023 and 2024, earning an estimated $4.9 million with 35.3 million total followers[22][11]. Additionally, DiGiovanni was featured on Rhode Island's 30 Under 30 list for Food and Drink in 2021 and received a Webby Award in 2022[1].Guinness World Records
One of DiGiovanni's most distinctive achievements is his collection of Guinness World Records, currently holding at least 10 official titles[23]. His record-breaking accomplishments include creating the largest cake pop (97 pounds 8.52 ounces) with fellow creator Lynja in November 2021[1], the largest chicken nugget (46.2 pounds) in June 2022[1], and visiting the most fast food restaurants in 24 hours (69 locations) in August 2022[1]. His most notable record came in May 2023 when he partnered with Gordon Ramsay to create the world's largest beef wellington, weighing 25.76 kg (56.79 pounds)[24]. Other records include the largest sushi roll, fastest time to fillet a 10-pound fish (beating Gordon Ramsay's previous record), and most recent, the largest iced latte at 1,044.92 liters created in partnership with Dunkin' in March 2024[23].Business Ventures
DiGiovanni has successfully leveraged his social media influence into multiple business ventures. In July 2021, he co-founded Osmo Salt Co., a premium seasoning and finishing salt company that has achieved significant market success[25]. As of February 2022, the company was valued at $8 million[5]. The brand has since expanded to major retailers including Walmart and Amazon, with products retailing for $6.97 each[26]. In June 2023, DiGiovanni released his debut cookbook, "Knife Drop: Creative Recipes Anyone Can Cook," which became a New York Times bestseller[27][28]. The book features a foreword by Gordon Ramsay and includes QR codes linking to video tutorials for key cooking techniques[28]. DiGiovanni also founded Happy Potato, a philanthropic clothing line where every product sold provides 10 meals to those in need[29][30]. Additionally, he co-founded Voodles, LLC in 2017, a company that creates pasta made with a full serving of vegetables in organic, gluten-free, and allergen-free formulations[25].Brand Partnerships and Collaborations
DiGiovanni has secured partnerships with major brands including Chipotle, Sony, Lay's, DoorDash, Nutella, Sweetgreen, and Dropbox[11]. His collaboration with Dunkin' resulted in a limited-time menu featuring four custom beverage creations available at all U.S. locations[31]. Most recently, in June 2025, he became an official brand partner of MrBeast's Feastables chocolate company, aligning with their mission to source chocolate ethically[32]. In May 2025, DiGiovanni partnered with media company Raptive to expand his "Nick's Kitchen" brand to the open web with NicksKitchen.com, marking his evolution from social media creator to multi-platform content entrepreneur[16].Philanthropic Efforts
DiGiovanni serves as the lead ambassador for The Farmlink Project, a nonprofit organization that connects farmers with food banks to reduce food waste and fight hunger[5][33]. Through various campaigns with partners like Chipotle and MrBeast, he has helped facilitate the donation of millions of pounds of produce and meals to food banks across the United States[33][34][35]. In 2021, DiGiovanni participated in MrBeast's #TeamSeas campaign, which raised $30 million to clean 30 million pounds of trash from the ocean[1]. His collaboration with MrBeast on a YouTube short in 2022 generated over 15.8 million views and resulted in the donation of approximately 15.9 million meals through The Farmlink Project[35].References
